Easter is another wonderful time of the year when we can get together with our loved ones, give each other gifts or just relax. To make it even more special, you can stock up on all sorts of decorations and ornaments that will further put you in a festive mood. If you have a cutting plotter you also have many opportunities to create your own decorations. Today I would like to share one of the interesting, yet very simple to make inspirations.
Colorful garlands will work well for many occasions. They present themselves beautifully and adapt to almost any celebration depending on the material or shapes you use to create them. Today I will show how to make an impressive Easter garland in a very simple way. To make it, we will need string or ribbon of a length that suits our needs. In my case it will be about 360cm. In addition, you will need glue and colored papers - higher weight papers, such as 160 - 250g, will work best. I used decorative paper in several colors and with a glitter finish. I used a Silhouette Cameo 4 plotter for cutting, and the theme of my garland is Easter eggs.
Pattern for cutting
The pattern for cutting is very simple. Just cut out the shape of an egg, in my case they are about 4.5cm high, and for ease you can make a dotted line along the center. This will help you bend the pattern later. I also cut out some openwork pieces from paper with a glitter finish. I will combine them with the full elements later. My garland will have several layers, so I will need about 80 eggs. Each egg will consist of three glued elements, making 240 cut out eggs. I put 30 eggs on one A4 sheet, so for my project I will need 8 colored A4 sheets in different colors. Wanting to add openwork elements to my eggs, I need to add some sheets with a glitter finish. However, this is not essential.
Joining the elements
I stick the openwork elements on the selected eggs. This will add variety to the appearance of the whole project. Then I slightly bend the elements along the center. This is not a problem for me thanks to the dotted line. The next step is to connect the three elements together so that three-dimensional eggs are formed. However, I leave the last two walls unconnected.
Before gluing the last walls, I place a string inside them. This way, when the pieces are joined together, it will not be visible and the whole will look clean and aesthetically pleasing. Eggs can be attached at small intervals or one right next to the other. I repeat the operation until the desired length of the garland is achieved.
Ready-made Easter decoration
Once I have a long garland, I can use it to decorate a staircase railing, a wall in a child's room, a window or a store window. At my place the garland will hang on the fireplace. Of course, such a decorated fireplace should not be lit!
As you can see, the making is not too complicated, although a tad time-consuming. The garland, on the other hand, looks really beautiful, and thanks to the possibility of making it from paper of any color and finish, we can match it to any interior! I hope this inspiration will encourage you to make your own decorations not only for Easter, but also for other occasions.
