Silhouette Cameo 5 - the long-awaited novelty

Refreshed design

At first glance, you can see that the manufacturer has focused on making the plotter's body as small as possible while maintaining the cutting format. This will give us a bit more space in the workshop, but it has its consequences. The film feeder previously built into the device has been replaced with a separate accessory, which is part of the kit. So you should prepare a place to store it. The film cutter, on the other hand, will remain part of the plotter's body. The shape of the Cameo 5 itself is also slightly different from its predecessor. The manufacturer has opted for more rounded shapes, which can be a disadvantage or an advantage depending on your taste. The plotter will be available in four colors: white, black, pink, and marbled.

New features

The Silhouette Cameo 5 plotter offers all the capabilities and functions available so far, namely cutting paper up to 300g and various types of film, sketching or cutting prints with Print & Cut. The carriage has been equipped with two holders, the first of which remains unchanged and is compatible with type B accessories, which means those previously used with the Cameo 4 and Portrait 3 plotters. The second holder has been upgraded and equipped with the power supply necessary to use the new accessories.

Gilding

After years, we lived to see dedicated gilding tools for Silhouette plotters. It will be possible to gild with appropriate pressure as well as high temperature. For now, foils in gold and silver colors and two thicknesses of gilding tips - 1mm and 2.5mm - are to be available.

Stamping

Another interesting tool is the embossing tool. It allows you to create unique concave or convex patterns, and it is also useful for creating aesthetic bend lines, which until now could only be achieved by creating and dotted line.

Calligraphy

With the upgraded number 2 holder, it is possible to use the pen holder to create lettering with a calligraphy effect. This is a useful feature when creating elegant invitations, thank-you notes or vignettes.

Silhouette Studio will be updated to support specific tools and functions. They will only be compatible with the new models.
