Setting the dimensions of the object

When designing, it is very often necessary to set the exact dimensions of a shape - for example, in the case of a card base or a box created to size. See how to set the dimensions of objects in Silhouette Studio.

Square and circle

To create a perfectly even square instead of a rectangle or a circle instead of an oval while drawing, press the Shift button. This will make the proportions of the drawn shape equal.

Setting custom dimensions of an object

  1. Draw any shape in Silhouette Studio.

  2. Open the Transform panel from the right side menu and open the Scale tab. The primary use of this tool is to proportionally change the size according to a given percentage scale. For example, you can enlarge a shape to 200% of its size.

  3. You can also use the Scale tool to have the program adjust the shape to the given dimensions. Select the drawn shape by clicking on it with the left mouse button.

  4. In the Width and Height fields, enter the dimensions you want. By default in the program, dimensions should be given in millimeters. You can change this in the settings of measurement units.

  5. Press the Use button.

  6. The selected dimensions will change to those given in the Width and Height fields.

Lock the proportions

  1. To lock the proportions, check the padlock next to the dimensions. This will ensure that when you change the width, the height will also change proportionally.

  2. Enter the selected value in one of the fields and confirm with the Use button.

  3. This will change both dimensions proportionally.
