1. Choose the right place for the device
The laser plotter requires the development of a suitable space so that it is out of the reach of children and pets. It is also advisable to find a space away from flammable objects.
2. Ventilation and exhaust
This is a must when working with a laser plotter! During cutting, harmful fumes and gases are produced, which should be discharged through a special pipe to a dedicated filter with replaceable cartridges, or to a vent leading outside the room. Importantly, the ventilation hole for the plotter must not be part of the ventilation system of the entire building! The exhaust fumes must be discharged directly to the outside through a dedicated opening, so that the fumes do not enter other rooms.
3. During operation, the housing of the device must be closed
As above, it is about the escape of harmful fumes, as well as light that could damage the eyesight. If the appliance housing or flap is damaged, replace it before using the machine again.
4. Do not leave the machine unattended during operation
This is very important, because high temperatures are generated during the operation of the laser plotter. Particularly low-quality materials are therefore prone to catching fire, which can even lead to a fire as a consequence.
5. Basic safety precautions at home or in the studio
For safety and to minimize the risk of fire, get a fire extinguisher and keep it near the laser plotter.
6. Use the right materials
You can most often find a list of materials suitable for laser cutting in the manufacturer's specifications. If you are unsure whether the plotter will cut or engrave a particular material correctly, contact us. We will answer your question or ask you to send us a sample for free testing.
