The Silhouette Portrait 3 can cut a wide variety of materials. The most popular of them are paper with a weight of up to approx. 300g and flex, flock and iron-on transfers.

Designing and creating graphics in Silhouette Studio

The free Silhouette Studio software included with the plotter is the basic version of the program, which allows you to open files from the Silhouette Design Store. It also allows you to design your own patterns using useful design tools. Using fonts saved on your computer, you can create inscriptions, and you can merge, rotate and transform individual shapes and letters.

In order to extend the range of software capabilities with additional functions, one of the available extensions - Designer or Business Edition should be purchased. Extensions offer more possibilities in terms of design, vectorization and editing. It is also important to open designs in the SVG format, which allows you to use files designed in external graphic programs or purchased on platforms such as Etsy or Polish Cutting Space platform.

You will get a perpetual license for the software, which means a one-time cost. Moreover, you can use the program on several computers, and in the case of the Business Edition also on several plotters at the same time.

If you create in Corel DRAW or Adobe Illustrator, you can get the Silhouette Connect plug-in to transfer files to your device directly from the program. However, it should be remembered that the plug-in works with selected versions of programs listed in the product description.

Cutting printouts using the Print & Cut function

The Silhouette Portrait 3 plotter, thanks to the Print & Cut function, can precisely cut prints. Thanks to this, creating original labels, stickers, decorative elements of cards or invitations will not be a problem.

The Print & Cut function consists in printing a pattern or graphics using an inkjet or laser printer, and then cutting the print out using a plotter. Thanks to the Print & Cut option in the Portrait 3 plotter, you can achieve cutting precision impossible to achieve by hand. It makes manual work easier, more effective and visually attractive.

The printable area for A4 sheets (21 x 29.7 cm) is approximately 17.5 x 26.5 cm.

Thanks to this unique device and accessories available in our store, you can also make sketches and gilding, and using a dedicated blade you can also cut fabrics or felt!

Sketching can be done using a special holder and three adapters with a diameter of 6.4 to 10 mm attached to it. You can put your favorite pens, gel pens or markers in the adapter. You can also use dedicated Silhouette markers available on our website in 24 vivid colors.
