After getting to know the basic functions of the equipment, it is time to implement the first projects. Most manufacturers offer a database of patterns to start with, or a paid subscription in a store with ready-to-cut files. However, it is also possible to obtain files for free. For this purpose, it is worth searching websites offering free vector graphics.
Vector graphics
But what is vector graphics anyway? This question is primarily bothering people who have not had any experience with graphics programs so far and are just starting to work with a cutting plotter. Meanwhile, importing a pattern into the program in one of the popular formats, such as .jpg, .png or .jpeg, ends in disappointment, because the plotter simply cannot cut out this type of projects. This is because it is a raster graphic, consisting of pixels, while a plotter is able to read and cut vector graphics, which consist of lines and points along which the blade moves.
Free patterns
Once we know what kind of graphics are suitable for cutting with a plotter, we can start looking for free patterns. One of the most popular formats is the .svg format. To get as many results as possible, it is worth entering a phrase in English into the search engine, for example "free svg" (you just have to remember that searching for individual categories of patterns must also be done in English). After receiving the results, we can start searching. Some sites require logging in or offer only a limited pool of patterns that we can download for free, and then you have to buy a subscription. However, you can find sites that allow you to download many patterns completely free of charge and do not require you to provide any data.
Free svg
You probably won't find anything with a more obvious name on the Internet. The Free svg website offers various graphics, from the simplest to very complicated, multi-colored designs. Just enter the keyword you are interested in in the search engine, and you will receive many suggestions useful for both cutting and printing.
Svg repo
If you are looking for simpler designs, it is worth taking a look here. After entering the appropriate keyword in the search engine, you will receive images that are not too complicated, and most of them do not require any corrections before starting to cut.
Freepik
This is probably one of the more popular websites offering designs in various formats. You can find both paid and free files there, you just need to use the appropriate filters. The proposed designs will be suitable for printing and cutting.
License
In case of designs downloaded from the Internet, especially free ones, it is worth familiarizing yourself with the details of the license that they are covered by. This primarily applies to files that we want to use to create designs for sale. In such a case, we want designs for commercial use. This way, we do not expose ourselves to the consequences of using someone else's property for profit purposes and, of course, we respect the creators of the designs.
